“Lively Run Goat Dairy is one of the longest operating commercial goat dairies in the country, beginning production in New York State in 1982 and pioneering goat cheese in the American marketplace. The Messmer family took over operations of Lively Run in 1995, after Steve was discharged from military service and brought his family back from Europe in the early 1990s. The entire Messmer family works to continue the mission of bringing to the Finger Lakes region healthy, sustainable and delicious goat cheese reminiscent of the cheese they enjoyed while living in Germany and France. Our goat herd of Alpines (French) and Sanaans (Swiss), a friendly bunch full of intelligence, curiosity, and mischief, produces quality milk that we use for our Lively Run handmade cheeses. We carefully breed our 48 does and 2 bucks each spring bringing forth nearly 100 kids, and maintain a milking herd of two dozen goats at a time. We feed them a wholesome diet of local forage and feed, which is essential to milk quality and also reflects the character of our Finger Lakes region.

With the fourth generation of Reeves ownership and the fifth generation now contributing to its success, Reeves Farms focuses on high quality berries and vegetables and remains a good steward of the land. Through the use of Integrated Pest Management, reduced tillage, expanded cover crops and crop rotation, organic blueberry production and other sustainable farming practices, the health of our soils and water resources will be insured for generations to come.”
Newark, NY Certified Organic.
“We are a family run farm located near Newark that strives to grow the best and the freshest produce you can find. We use sustainable, chemical free growing methods. Cover cropping, crop rotations, manure(from our free range egg layers and goats) and certified organic fertilizers and minerals are some of the things we use to keep our ground in top shape. Our family eats everything we grow, so the nutrition content of our vegetables is important for us as well as you. We believe our health is tied to the health of the soil where our food is grown, and much of the food today is lacking many of the essential nutrients and minerals needed for good health.”
